Stop innocent dogs being destroyed

The Issue

On the 7th June 2023 my sons 3 dogs were seized from their home by police due to and incident involving just one of the dogs that was not the dogs fault. My son recently moved back home with me due to unforeseen circumstances. As I have 2 chihuahuas living in the house it was decided that my sons 3 dogs, a pocket bully and 2 standard bullies would live in the garden in properly built heated kennels where they settled down very quickly and loved the open space. Before my son and the dogs arrived to live with me I informed all the neighbours that they would be coming and gave out my phone number so they could contact me should there be any issues with barking etc whilst they were getting used to their new environment and not sleeping in my sons bed with him like they were used to. My son works hard for the council and walks the dogs at 6am before work and takes them out on long walks after work, they are his babies and are very well looked after. There had never been any issues or complaints regarding the dogs in the 7-8 weeks they had been living there till the unfortunate incident occurred. On the 7th June I was out as was my son and when I returned home all hell had broke lose. On entering my house I could hear my chihuahuas barking sounding distressed along with my sons dogs in the garden also sounding extremely distressed. When I opened the back door there was a neighbour hanging over my 6ft fence with 2 6ft walls either side shouting for my to get in and close the door. I could see 2 of my sons dogs locked in their kennels and his other dog was just roaming the garden barking. I opened the door and asked what the hell was going on to which the neighbour yelled “He’s attacked someone get back” I screamed “How the hell has he got out??” Feeling confused as there was NO WAY out for the dogs the garden is fully secure. The neighbour replied “He hasn’t” To cut a long story short our neighbours daughter from next door had kicked her ball over, and her dad not thinking had told her to climb over to get the ball. The 12 year old climbed over for the ball but then approached the dog to stroke him and he bit her. The girl panicked and screamed and the dog became frightened and bit her leg and bottom. The dad and other neighbours heard her scream and dad jumped over to help and was also bitten. Dad and daughter both got out of the garden and an ambulance was called. Of course with it being a dog attack the police arrived too, lots of them! The neighbour couldn’t stress enough how it was NOT the dogs fault and he should not have told his daughter to climb into the garden knowing the dogs were there and the size of them. Sadly all 3 dogs (including the 2 in that were locked in the kennels at the time) were seized by police and we are waiting on a decision for their fate. To watch my son hand over his babies was heartbreaking. The neighbours have pressed no charges and are fully backing us to help get the dogs back. They have been told they will make a full recovery from there injuries and the scars won’t be visible after a while. My son is devastated by the whole situation for the neighbours but also for losing his babies. It’s been almost 3 weeks now and we don’t know where they are or how they are doing. The dog who attacked was protecting his home! Had he escaped or my son was walking him off a lead we would be right behind the police but he wasn’t, he was in a safe secure environment and was scared by a stranger coming into his territory over a wall. The police are “Testing” them to see if they are a band breed (They are not) but time is ticking away and the dogs are going to be even more distressed without their routine and home which they love. Please help us to stop these 3 beautiful dogs being put to sleep by signing this petition. Thank you for taking time to read.
