Greg Porter

Rep. Gregory W. Porter (D-Indianapolis) opposes utilizing state revenues for federal immigration enforcement. He has repeatedly called for an end to the agreement between the Indiana Department of Corrections (IDOC) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to house a detention center at Miami Correctional Facility. When the IDOC made its initial request for $15.8 million in Sept. 2025, Rep. Porter motioned to remove the request from the State Budget Committee's agenda. The majority denied his request. This past session, he passed an amendment to Senate Enrolled Act 76 requiring the IDOC to give a monthly report on expenditures at Miami Correctional Facility, increasing financial transparency for Hoosier taxpayers.
