I’m very happy to see that we have over 300 signatures in our first 24 hours, but we need a lot more.
About 100,000 people exchange their homes around the world, across all home exchange sites. This issue is currently directly affecting our members in Scotland and Amsterdam, but also in New York City, Hawaii and other places around the world.
We want to stop this now, so it doesn’t become the norm.
We are included in this legislation partly because home exchange is not well-understood and partly because there are not so many of us, so our voices are not so loud.
Please, sign and share to help us change that.
Home exchange is an amazing way to travel. It helps us to see the world through someone else’s eyes. It helps to sustain local communities. It helps to make travel affordable where otherwise it may not be.
We should not have to be licensed to share our homes.
One great point that one of our members made is that, far from being an annoyance to neighbours, our experience is that neighbours often welcome home exchangers and welcome them to the community. We’re quiet, we’re looking after someone’s home, we don’t have big parties, and we respect the homes and the communities in which we stay.
It’s the exact opposite of issues found with some short-term rental areas, and it’s why we say we’re part of the solution.
Don’t punish home exchangers by including our wonderful way of life in short-term rental legislation.
