The Issue

To All Concerned Parties,

We, as a united front of dedicated and regulated immigration consultants, are reaching out to gather widespread support for a cause that profoundly affects our profession and those seeking immigration guidance in Canada. The rising prevalence of unlicensed immigration consulting practices is a matter of serious concern, transcending our professional boundaries and impacting the very essence of the immigration process.

The Rise of Unlicensed Consulting Practices

There has been a noticeable increase in the activities of unlicensed entities, especially in their utilization of social media and digital platforms to promote their services. This trend is misleading for potential clients and undermines the credibility and trust in our profession.

Economic and Professional Impacts

Unlicensed practitioners offer services at lower costs, undercutting legitimate consultants and leading to economic losses for those who are regulated and adhere to professional standards. The unethical practices of these unlicensed entities increase liability for the entire profession, often resulting in stricter regulations for all, including us as RCICs.

Illicit Business Practices Within Canadian Borders

Alarmingly, some unlicensed entities have begun establishing businesses in Canada, giving the false impression of legitimacy. This not only creates market confusion but also devalues the significant investment RCICs make in education, ethics, and ongoing professional development.

A Collective Call to Action

Acknowledging the complexity of controlling international entities, we believe that decisive action within Canada is both possible and essential. We demand that the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC) and relevant authorities address these issues urgently.

The Need for Awareness and Action

We bring these critical issues to the attention of the CICC, relevant authorities, and the public, emphasizing the necessity for collective awareness and action. This is to protect the integrity of our profession, the well-being of potential immigrants, and the trust in our immigration system.

Invitation to Support

Your support for this petition is not merely a stance for the integrity of the immigration consulting profession but a defense of the rights and aspirations of potential immigrants to Canada. Together, we can urge the CICC and government authorities to effectively address this pressing issue.
