In many parts of the country, animals are still being brutally sacrificed in the name of religious rituals and outdated customs. These acts are often carried out in public places, on streets, or near temples — without any medical supervision, without proper hygiene, and without any sense of mercy.
The truth is painful: thousands of innocent animals like goats, buffaloes, chickens, and even camels slaughtered in the most cruel ways, leaving behind blood, suffering, and trauma — not just for animals, but for people who witness it too, especially children.
This is not just a matter of faith. It’s a matter of humanity.
We, the undersigned, urge the Government, Municipal Authorities, and Police Departments to take strict action against illegal animal sacrifices being conducted outside legal slaughterhouses or without proper licenses. These actions violate existing animal protection laws, especially the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, which clearly prohibits unnecessary pain or suffering to animals.
We are not against any religion or belief. We respect all faiths. But traditions that promote violence, cruelty, and bloodshed must be questioned. Societies evolve — and so must practices that harm innocent lives.
Killing animals in the open, especially during festivals, also spreads diseases, pollutes the environment, and violates public sanitation laws. These acts should not be allowed to continue unchecked in a civilized, compassionate society.
There are kinder alternatives to celebrate faith — ones that do not involve suffering.
We demand:
Strict enforcement of anti-cruelty laws. Awareness campaigns about legal vs. illegal practices. Banning public animal sacrifices. Fines and action against those who organize such illegal acts.
Animals may not speak our language, but they feel every ounce of pain just like we do. Let us be their voice, their protector.
If we want a kinder world, we must start by ending cruelty disguised as culture.
