Stop ignoring these dangerous roads- grant the money for road repairs and reconstruction!
The Issue
On January 12th, a school bus that drives for Arlie Boggs Elementary was involved in a dangerous accident where an 18 wheeler truck ran them off of the road and the bus carrying around 25 students flipped over onto its side in the shallow river. Now on February 28th, a second incident has occurred with 19 students where the bus was forced off the road, again by a coal truck, and luckily this time did not flip. But it did cause the bus to get stuck in the ditch, the students had to evacuate, and now everyone is aware that we have a problem in our area. The roads throughout Eolia are too narrow for the trucks and busses both. If these road conditions stay the same, the outcomes will continue to be the same or even worse. Do we have to experience a horrible tragedy here before there will be changes made? Is it going to take a school bus wreck with fatalties? No one wants to see these children hurt. It's a simple solution really6, but a costly one. The roads need to be widened properly with guardrails installed and shoulders added. Not just a new coat of black top on top of what's already there. The state needs to take the time to blast out the big rocks that jab out into the road, or use the proper equipment to have it all pushed in the right direction. They need to change the curves in the road completely to be able accommodate the large vehicles that have to travel on this route. Faith the size of a mustard seed can move a mountain, and our mountains need moved here, just enough to make the roads safe for these kids. If change doesn't come now, it's only a matter of time before lives will be lost. Show these kids the importance of their lives, show them that they are important enough for us to all come together to fix a problem that puts them at risk every day. Show them that they are cared about. Thank you.
