Stop Iceland from commercial whaling
The Issue
Whales are magnificent, gentle giants of the ocean, teetering on the brink of extinction, and they must be protected. It pains me to see these incredible creatures threatened once again by the return of commercial whaling in Iceland. Despite their own traditions, even many Greenlanders, who only take what they need for survival, disagree with this brutal practice.
Commercial whaling in Iceland not only defies the global ban, but it also risks pushing endangered species closer to extinction. The resumption of this cruel practice disregards years of conservation efforts and neglects the scientific evidence highlighting the declining whale populations. It's a troubling step backwards in the fight to protect our precious marine life.
According to the International Whaling Commission (IWC), various whale species such as the North Atlantic right whale and the blue whale are critically endangered, with populations reduced to only a few hundred individuals. The resumption of commercial whaling poses a significant threat to their survival, as well as to the delicate balance of marine ecosystems.
