Petition to oppose the proposed Housing Development of 65-67 dwellings on the Water Meadow off Lady Ann Rd, Soothill, Batley.  (Application 2021/94280)

The addition of 65+ new houses in this area will have a negative impact across numerous areas.

Environment/Wildlife - it is currently a green site so inevitably there will be a biodiversity loss.

Traffic volumes - Soothill is already congested enough without the addition of another 100+ cars. Not to mention years of disruption while building work would take place.

Flooding - The loss of green space will increase more flooding than we already have in this and other surrounding areas.

Wellbeing - It is well known that green spaces in Urban areas are important for people’s mental health and wellbeing. Building on this land will destroy the local green space. 

Local Infrastructure - There are not enough Doctors, Dentists, Schools to support extra people living in the area.

Current Developments - There are already large housing developments taking place on Rouse Mill Lane & Owl Lane.
