The Issue

Living in Palm River has always been a haven for families seeking a safe and friendly community. Our neighborhood, cherished for its tranquility and strong sense of community, is now facing a potential threat that could change its very essence.

The owner of the local hotel has taken significant steps toward expanding their business at the cost of disrupting our neighborhood's peace. With plans already in motion, they aim to demolish two homes on Palm View Dr and three more on Palm River Blvd to make room for 30 additional hotel rooms, a new parking lot, and extended stay accommodations. This expansion threatens to alter the fabric of our beloved neighborhood.

With increased visitors and more traffic, safety concerns naturally arise. Currently, our streets are calm, and residents enjoy a sense of security when their children play outside. The proposed hotel expansion would not only degrade the quality of life but also endanger the very safety we have come to depend on.

Furthermore, the increase in traffic and the influx of transient visitors can lead to noise pollution and potentially increase crime rates. The charm and peace of Palm River shouldn’t be compromised for commercial gains. Our community deserves to remain a safe enclave for families.

We understand the need for economic growth, but not at the expense of our neighborhood’s integrity. There are always alternatives that can foster business without sacrificing community values.

Let’s act to preserve Palm River by voicing our concerns to the county commissioners. We urge them to deny the permits required for this hotel expansion. Safeguarding our serene family neighborhood from such reckless development is a responsibility we all bear.

Please join us in protecting the character and safety of Palm River. If you believe in preserving the sanctity and security of this cherished community, sign this petition and stand with us in opposing the hotel expansion.
