If you are like me then you love horses. I volunteer at a stable who rescues neglected horses which has really brought this whole issue into perspective for me. Right now Canada alone exports about 14000 tonnes of horse meat a year out of Canada. Five plants around Canada together slaughter about 82000 horses a year. This has to stop! At this rate many breeds of horses are on the brink of extinction, such as the New Forest Ponies. By signing this petition you are helping save horses from abuse, slaughter, and neglect. Horse abuse is a big deal, I learned about a noseband, specifically the Spanish Noseband, which has spikes on the inside cutting into horses' noses. Use of items such as the Spanish Noseband should be illegal! If this continues millions of horses will continue to die every year. I have only shown you the side of the U.S. and Canada. Places in Asia eat horse meat resulting in tons more horses being slaughtered for people to eat! We need to help them now! They don't deserve this. They can't help themselves.
