My Story Hit-and-Runs Killed 17,531 People in the Last Decade, with the Most Fatalities in California. 2,888 that's the number of hit and runs alone in Philadelphia between January 2014 and the summer of 2015-the year my son, Abdul Latif Wilson became one of the fatalities included those two hundred eighty-eight thousand loved ones lost. 1,342 in 2010 to 1,939 in 2019 — the latest available data — after reaching a high point of 2,012 in 2016. During the same period, deaths increased 44% from 1,393 to 2,005. 

Thats over 44% of our population lost to violent crime in the last five years. And these pedestrians aren't predominantly dying in these affluent neighborhoods, they're primarily dying in destitute communities already stricken with crime, poverty and mental illness.

Studies have estimated that only about 10percent of hit-and-run cases are solved, due to an overwhelming lack of evidence. The lady who killed my son in broad daylight took 4-5 months to turn herself into custody. She was charged 2-4 years in prison, but returned to her family after a year and a half and they never told me. They are locking people up for more time for less. Unfortunately, some of us will never get Justice and closure for our loved ones. If you are involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident and you leave the scene it shows the disregard to another human being life, so the minimum sentencing should be 10years in prison. The family of the victims are traumatized for the rest of our lives. Forever that nightmare will endless.

There are over 40 calls a day for hit-and-run accidents. We need to act now and give these cowards more time! They are going to keep killing and hiding because it's an easy way to get away with murder. They need to know that an accident can turn into First Degree Murder once they leave the scene! IF YOU HIDE YOU NEED TO DO MORE TIME!
