Thank you for signing the petition to show your opposition to the permanent road closures in Highland Park.

The Boro was forced to reopen the closed streets on November 1, 2021 after their approvals for the temporary closures expired on August 30, 2021.  The Boro had allowed the streets to remain closed illegally during that time.

Now the Mayor, Council and Boro Administrator are actively pursuing their goal to permanently close South 3rd at Raritan, and make North 4th and Raritan a one way roadway.

They have enlisted the help of Senator Patrick Diegnan.  When we called the Senator's office and asked for a meeting, he declined and said this was a "local" issue.  Yet he and his staff have been actively helping the Boro officials in their effort to permanently close the roadways by using his influence with the DOT.   Senator Diegnan is the chair of the State Transportation Committee, and has met with the DOT and Boro officials, and his Chief of Staff, Greg Tufaro, has been involved in email correspondence with the DOT and the Boro.  The DOT has labeled this matter of "high importance."

If you have not already done so, please contact the governmental officials listed below and tell them directly that you oppose the permanent road closures. A single email directed to all the recipients would be very helpful.
