The Issue

🚫 Protect Rural Golden Gate Estates from High-Density Development
Petition to the Collier County Board of County Commissioners

Golden Gate Estates is one of the last truly rural communities in Collier County. Families move here for space, privacy, safety, and a way of life that is very different from dense urban development.

Now, that way of life is at risk.

A proposed high-density, multifamily development within Golden Gate Estates directly conflicts with the long-standing vision for our community.

Why This Matters to Every Resident
❗ It Does Not Adhere to the Current Master Plan
Golden Gate Estates is designated for low-density residential use, generally allowing one home per 2.25 acres.

Approving high-density, multifamily projects creates a new standard that does not follow the current Growth Management Plan—undermining the rules meant to protect our community.

⚠️ It Sets a Precedent That Affects Us All
This is not just about one project.

If approved, it will open the door for more high-density developments across Golden Gate Estates. Over time, this will permanently change the rural character of the entire area.

🚗 Increased Traffic & Strain on Infrastructure
Golden Gate Estates was never designed for dense development. Increased population will:

Add significant traffic to already limited roadways
Create safety concerns for families and school buses
Strain emergency services and infrastructure

🌿 Loss of Rural Character and Quality of Life
Residents of Golden Gate Estates value:

Open land and natural surroundings
Peace and privacy
Lower population density
High-density development is incompatible with this lifestyle and threatens what makes this community unique.

Our Message to the Collier County Board of County Commissioners
We support responsible growth—but it must follow the existing rules and long-term vision for Golden Gate Estates.

We respectfully ask you to:

DENY high-density, multifamily developments in rural Golden Gate Estates
Uphold the current Growth Management Plan
Protect the rural character of our community for future generations
