Stop Gymbox from Killing Their Combat Community.
The Issue
Gymbox is making drastic changes to their gyms, which could severely impact our beloved combat sport communities. I’ve witnessed, firsthand, a thriving group of combat enthusiasts at Gymbox who depend heavily on the facilities they've come to know and love—right in the heart of London. Unfortunately, Gymbox is now minimizing these vital combat areas. The boxing bags have already been removed from the Elephant and Castle location, and machines have intrusively been placed where once there were vibrant, active spaces for boxing, Muay Thai and other Martial Arts.
This isn’t just a gym membership issue; it's a community issue. Combat sports foster not only physical health but also mental wellness and camaraderie. Each removed bag and ring represents potential relationships severed, and a chance for fitness and passion hindered. Gymbox is planning even more cuts: they are looking to remove the rings from both Westfield locations. These changes threaten our routines, our progress, and our shared spaces where diverse groups have come together, bonded over shared goals and perseverance.
For many of us, finding another gym isn't just as simple as looking up the next place in a search engine. The combat area isn’t just a patch of floor—it’s a hub where community thrives. Established friendships live here, entrenched in sweat and hard work, created through shared practices and encouragements.
We request that Gymbox reconsider these plans and value the needs and wants of their combat sports community. The solution? Halt the removal of existing combat facilities and, instead, promote a more inclusive environment where both wellness, weights and combat training can coexist. This action demonstrates respect and acknowledgment for all facets of fitness, sustaining the support we need for our combat zones.
Help us preserve our combat community and keep our training homes intact. Please sign this petition to urge Gymbox to stop these reductions and maintain the integrity of their combat areas.
