Stop Governor Abbott's SB 2 Voucher Scam, Protect Texas Public Schools

Stop Governor Abbott's SB 2 Voucher Scam, Protect Texas Public Schools
The Issue
My son, an autistic child, relies on the rich resources and specialized care that public schools provide. SB 2's voucher scheme threatens his and millions of other students' vital education. This scheme only serves to weaken public schools, while raising taxes for all Texans. Governor Abbott's proposed bill would establish a voucher program that leaves over 3.9 million Texas students behind, catering only to 100,000-plus students. This proposal is not just unfair; it's a slap in the face to hardworking Texans. It will cost us a staggering $1 billion - money that should be invested directly in our public schools.
Despite the rhetoric of choice, this bill offers no choice to those in towns or cities where there is no private school. Essentially, this bill increases the financial burden of all Texans, whether they benefit from these vouchers or not. Parents who rely on public schools, like me, are left out in the cold while our taxes subsidize private education for a select few.
Our children are more than just numbers on a spreadsheet, and their education is more than a line item in the budget. They deserve access to quality education that prepares them for a bright future. We demand Governor Abbott to abandon his voucher scheme, halt the passage of SB 2, and direct his attention and our tax dollars to the place where they really matter: our public schools.
Governor Abbott has withheld 33 billion dollars from a surplus in 2023 because he didn't get his vouchers passes. does that sounds like someone that care about our children's education? no. He cares more about helping his billionaire friends than us Texans that want to give our children a better education but with holding that funding how can we.
It's time to unite and protect public schools in Texas. Please, sign this petition today.
