Stop Google from Disclosing Full Addresses and Phone Numbers on the Play Store

The Issue

I'm part of a small team that runs a business from home. Like us, many small businesses across India, and indeed the world, are registered at home addresses due to ease and convenience. Recently, our privacy has been threatened by a new Google policy. After verification, the full address and contact details of our company, which is also my personal home, is now publicly displayed on the Google Play Store. This has massive privacy implications for every individual who uses their home address for business purposes.

According to a joint study by the National Small Business Association and Reckon, an alarming 93% of small business owners use their home address as their primary business address. The current policy by Google means that potentially millions of individuals are having their private details unwillingly revealed to the world.

This petition is a plea to Google to revise their verification policy in a manner that respects and protects the personal privacy and safety of small business owners and others who use their personal addresses for official purposes. We understand the need for validation, but not at the cost of personal privacy. We urge Google to consider the impact of their policies on the people that make their platform so diverse and dynamic. Your signature can make a huge difference to millions like us who are trying to maintain utmost security in today's digital world. Please sign this petition.
