STOP GLASGOW CITY COUNCIL CLOSING THE NIGHT SHELTER

STOP GLASGOW CITY COUNCIL CLOSING THE NIGHT SHELTER
The Issue
🛑 Save Lives: Save the Night Shelter 🛑
PETITION TO GLASGOW CITY COUNCIL
We, the undersigned, call on Glasgow City Council to immediately halt any action that would result in the closure of the Homeless Project Scotland Night Shelter, and to urgently approve the pending planning application for change of use, which is due to be heard by the Council’s Planning Committee.
The Homeless Project Scotland Night Shelter is not just a building it is a lifeline.
Every night, this shelter provides emergency accommodation, safety, and dignity to those with nowhere else to go. Since its opening, it has saved countless lives — people who would otherwise have been left to sleep rough on the cold, dangerous streets of Glasgow.
In a city where homelessness is increasing and statutory services are overwhelmed, this shelter is a vital safety net, run entirely by dedicated volunteers. Closing this facility, or refusing to approve its lawful change of use, will directly lead to increased suffering, risk of harm, and avoidable deaths. This project must not be punished for doing what others will not.
We demand that:
Glasgow City Council does not close the Homeless Project Scotland Night Shelter.
The Council approves the planning application for change of use, allowing the building to continue operating lawfully as a night shelter.
The Council recognises its moral and statutory duty to protect the lives of the city’s most vulnerable, and works constructively with organisations providing emergency support on the frontline.
Lives depend on this. Glasgow must not turn its back on those in need.
SIGN BELOW to show your support. Let Glasgow City Council know: we will not stand by while a life-saving service is shut down.
