Designate Hawaiian Bonefish, O'io, as a "Gamefish." Hawaiian Bonefish are extremely susceptible to mono-filament gill nets and are being over harvested for commercial sale at an alarming rate. These highly regarded sport fish are sold in local markets for pennies per pound to benefit a few at the expense of our greater Hawaii community. "Gamefish" status would prohibit the sale of Bonefish, but still allow catch and keep for personal consumption- protecting this valuable community resource from continued over fishing by a few selfish individuals.

Letter to
Governor David Ige
I just signed the following petition addressed to: Hawaii Governor David Ige

-------------------------Designate Hawaiian Bonefish, O'io, as a "Gamefish."-----------------------

Hawaiian Bonefish are extremely susceptible to mono-filament gill nets and continue to be harvested at an alarming rate. These highly regarded sport fish are sold in local markets for pennies a pound to benefit a very few individuals at the expense of the rest of our community. "Gamefish" status would ban sale of Bonefish but still allow catch-and-keep by rod and reel for personal consumption- protecting this extremely valuable community resource from over fishing with gill nets. Please help support progressive resource management and future fishing opportunity for the Children of Hawaii.
