Stop Giant Pylons from destroying YOUR beautiful Scottish Borders landscape

Stop Giant Pylons from destroying YOUR beautiful Scottish Borders landscape
The Issue
The UK and Scottish Governments plan to send renewable energy generated in Scotland to England via a new 80km 400kV overhead powerline which they call an energy 'Superhighway'. Its construction will ruin vast swathes of Borders countryside forever.
Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN) want to build giant electricity pylons up to 65 metres high, carrying 400kv along with industrial-scale transmission sub stations and battery farms along a route from Gala North, to the Scottish-English Border near Newcastleton.
The proposed installation of giant pylons, battery storage sites and electricity sub-stations within unspoilt countryside would cause immense and irreparable damage to our landscape forever.
There is no benefit to local people as all the energy produced will be sent to England and, SPEN is a Spanish company.
The proposed 'Cross Border Connection' will negatively impact our beautiful and historic landscape; threatening its biodiversity; its tourism and economic value and its agricultural value.
In England, they are taking Pylons down in places like Snowdonia in Wales and undergrounding powerlines instead. Are the Scottish Borders less precious than Snowdonia?
In Europe, Governments have created policies to ensure all new power-line infrastructure is underground as a matter of course, to protect the landscape of those countries. Why is Scotland different? Does the Scottish Government not value the Borders? Are we to be sacrificed in order to provide power to England?
WE MUST ACT NOW as the UK Government is changing the law in order to stop local people resisting what are ill thought through plans that will ruin our countryside and many rural communities.
