Stop Gentrification of Black Neighborhoods in Los Angeles.

"So what black neighborhoods in Los Angeles are being gentrified? What can we do about it?"

Neighborhoods such as View Park, Baldwin Hills, and Leimert Park, are some of the only primarily African American owned neighborhoods in Los Angeles. In addition, View Park is ranked number one the wealthiest upper class African American neighborhood not just of Los Angeles, but the United States. But most importantly, It's a place where working black families can call home.

Increased Home Values
As many may know, the market value in these very small neighborhoods have drastically increased. Years ago, you could by a home here for around 200 thousand dollars. However, many homes in these areas are on sale for extremely high values. Some are up to five hundred thousand, and some even up to one million dollars. The prices of these homes and new targets of these desired homes are getting many African Americans priced out. High market values is what keeps other African Americans out the picture. Please help by protecting some of the last black neighborhoods in Los Angeles, and to keep the community of black pride.

The future plans for Baldwin Hills
Black neighborhoods have always been a symbol of black freedom. It's a place where we can feel safe, and don't have worry about things many of us would face in other neighborhoods. Please help spread the word and take a stand against gentrification and to help us keep the history of black pride. If we get enough signatures, we can hold a meeting with city council, and discuss the future Baldwin Hills 2020 production plans such as a luxury hotel, apartments that will be constructed where black businesses now stand, and luxury condos that many African Americans won't be able to afford and will be priced out. Yes, it may be a stretch, but it's worth every shot to make a difference. And we may be able to fight it with signatures and your reasons why you want to help out.

What can you do to help?

What can you do to help save these neighborhoods? Start by telling your friends and family if they're looking for a place to live, support your black businesses in Leimert Park, and other black businesses in the neighborhoods. If you know a neighbor, friend, or family member who is contemplating on selling their home, convince them not to. Find people who can afford homes here and who are looking for a neighborhood to live in, put up signs on street poles to battle gentrification. Whatever you do, do not sell your home. ;)

Here are the future plans of Baldwin Hills including building a luxury hotel.
