Stop Geese Roundup's by MSU ( Midwestern State University).

The Issue

On June 13th 2023 Midwestern State university in Wichita Falls Texas had 334 Canadian geese killed along with anything else that was caught in their trap. They contacted USDA Texas wild life services and used nets to round them up during molting season when they could not fly ,and put them in a trailer and gassed them with co2.

This included nesting pairs and goslings.

Then dumped their bodies at the city land fill.

We have a few questions for MSU:
1. What non-lethal measures were taken to lower the number of geese, or were any measures taken?  If they were worried about the number of geese at the lake, why did they allow all the eggs to be hatched? I would estimate there were 75 to 100 goslings that were taken during the roundup.
2. What problems were the geese causing?
3. Were any studies done to evaluate any damage that was done.
4. MSU mentioned diseases.  What diseases did they have? Was any testing done to have definitive answers?
5. What is MSU going to do in the future so this doesn't happen again.  What non-lethal means will be used next time? Or will they take the easy way out, and just have them killed again.
6. Texas Wildlife said they left 40 geese at Sikes Lake.   Was care taken to make sure there would be mating pairs left so they flock could recover from the massacre?

We blame both MSU and Texas Wildlife Service.  MSU should have sought out ways to downsize the geese without killing 90% of the flock, and Texas Wildlife Service should have offered up non-lethal solutions to MSU

We want answers! We want a plan and we NEVER what this to happen again!

please sign this petition to stop this senseless killings and to demand answers to our concerns!

We never want this to happen again!
