This is a petition to oppose any further development on our beautiful green field space in Ratby.

The fields around Markfield Road, Stamford Street and the Boroughs are now seriously under the threat with the latest proposal for an additional 75 houses already gaining momentum.  Builders on the existing site have been overheard referring to a further 900 houses in plan for the future.

Our village is becoming increasingly congested with parked cars preventing the smooth flow of traffic through the village.  This congestion has become very serious especially at school drop off and pick up times, any further congestion would no doubt increase the risk for a serious incident. 

Nothing is being done by the local authority or the local police to tackle illegally parked cars on public footpaths leaving village residents in a dangerous position venturing on the road to walk down the street, especially with pushchairs or wheelchairs.

Current site operations being carried out by Lagan Homes are creating huge clouds of dust on a daily basis 7.30am to 5pm at night & again on Saturday morning from 7.30am to 1pm. This is covering the whole of the village with the sunshine houses along Markfield Road getting the worst of the dust fall out. This is a serious environmental issue which should be being dealt with by the Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council. As yet both the current building contractors & the HBBC have done absolutely nothing to address this problem.
