The Issue

My own experience has made me deeply passionate about this cause. I have been repeatedly misrepresented by a so-called news outlet that masquerades as a legitimate platform but, in reality, engages in smear campaigns rather than unbiased journalism. Instead of providing factual, balanced reporting, it serves as a mouthpiece for political propaganda, consistently shielding corrupt Democratic officials in Galveston County, Texas. This is not news; this is calculated misinformation.

This misuse of media not only distorts the truth but also undermines the very principles of a free and fair press—principles that are the cornerstone of a functioning democracy. Allowing taxpayer dollars, which should be employed for the public good, to fund such blatantly biased and unethical media practices is unacceptable. These resources should instead be directed towards fostering genuine investigative journalism that holds all public officials accountable, regardless of their political affiliation.

To make matters worse, this isn't an isolated incident. According to a 2019 Pew Research Center study, 54% of Americans (snd growing) say they rarely trust the information coming from national and mainstream news organizations. This loss of public trust is exacerbated by the misuse of taxpayer money, funneled into platforms that perpetuate misinformation and shield partisan interests.

We need a clear and actionable change. I the state, Galveston County Commissioners and State Representatives to establish a bipartisan committee dedicated to stopping how taxpayer funds are allocated to media outlets. This committee should prioritize transparency and ensure that government support is exclusively allocated to organizations committed to ethical and impartial reporting. By implementing these measures, we can protect the integrity of our media and restore public faith in journalism.

Our democracy thrives on the free flow of truthful information. Join me in demanding that our hard-earned tax dollars are not wasted on propaganda outlets like Galveston daily (fake) news but invested in holding power to account. Sign this petition and stand up for real journalism. We must stop funneling taxpayers' money to unethical biased Propaganda outlets
