Supporters,
We are at a critical moment. The Tennessee General Assembly has officially passed the FAIR Rx Act (SB 2040 / HB 1959), a major step toward restoring fairness and transparency in how prescription medications are received by patients across the state. Now, the decision rests with Governor Bill Lee.
With the help and support of many of you, I spoke in Arkansas where similar legislation was proposed and passed. I believe Tennessee will be the another state to do the same. Supporters should encourage this legislation in their state and at the federal level.
This legislation directly addresses the growing concern over Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) owning or controlling which pharmacies patients can use, an arrangement that creates clear conflicts of interest. For too long, PBMs have had the ability to steer patients toward their own pharmacies while restricting access to independent and local pharmacies. The FAIR Rx Act seeks to put an end to that practice and level the playing field.
This law will:
Promote fair competition among pharmacies
Protect patient choice
Help ensure medications are accessible and affordable without corporate interference
This is where your voice matters most.
We must act now to urge Governor Lee to sign the FAIR Rx Act into law. Patients deserve a system that puts their needs first not one driven by hidden financial incentives and restricted choices.
