You Can Listen To This Update Here
If you receive your mail order pharmacy medications on a hot day with melted ice packs or without any protection, it can be concerning. Especially if mail order pharmacy is your only option for coverage, it's important to take action. As a patient advocate, I'm trying to bring about change in this area, and I appreciate your help. Here are some steps you can take:
- File complaints with your State Board of Pharmacy: If you experience medication access issues related to mail order pharmacy or corporate chain pharmacies, you should file a complaint with your State Board of Pharmacy. They are responsible for regulating pharmacies and can address these concerns.
- Follow through with complaints: It's important not to stop after filing a complaint. Due to potential conflicts of interest on pharmacy boards, patients need to follow through and ensure their complaints are addressed properly.
- Attend or listen to Board of Pharmacy meetings: Many State Boards of Pharmacy hold public meetings, which are often conducted virtually. Unfortunately, these meetings often lack patient representation. Mail order pharmacies, large corporate pharmacies, and their lobbyists are present, but patients and caregivers are not. By attending or listening to these meetings, patients can bring accountability and raise their concerns directly.
- Get involved and seek justice: If you face issues with medication access and your board doesn't take action, please reach out to me. I want to be involved and help advocate for your rights. It's crucial that we hold our boards of pharmacy accountable for their actions or lack thereof.
- Volunteer to stay informed: I would love to have 50 volunteers in every state who can help us stay up to date on State Board of Pharmacy regulations and issues impacting patients. If you're interested in joining our community and assisting in this important work, please email me or sign up through the provided link.
Please also share your issues with mail order pharmacy stories by emailing loretta@uniteforsafemeds.com
By taking these steps and working together, we can make a difference and ensure that patients have safe and reliable access to their medications. Thank you for your support!
