The following quoted tweet came directly from a USPS representative in response to a patient who was concerned about a delay in receiving medications,
"Your meds are being shipped parcel select and because we are now in the holiday season, Express Mail, Priority Mail and First Class Mail will get processed first."
I want all patients who are forced to mail-order pharmacy to be warned that the delivery of their medications may take longer during the holiday season.
My heart broke yesterday when I read the tweet from @USPShelp as I thought of the many patients whose lives depend on medications by mail-order. If there is mail that should be prioritized, it should be the mail that lives depend upon.
Patients cannot and should not be forced to rely on the mail carrier to provide patient care. Patients should not be forced to unnecessarily put any person who is not a trained healthcare professional between their pharmacist and their life-saving medications.
Please warn others who rely on mail-order pharmacy.
