Hi Everyone,

It may be your story that will save lives.

Urgently, we need stories of patients, physicians, and nurses who are aware of the issues of improper temperature storage of medications in transport to the patients in order to bring about change.

The FDA, most drug manufacturers, and USP who writes storage recommendations that the FDA bases rules upon, would most likely not uphold the current shipping of even room temperature drugs placed in only a bag in trucks and mailboxes that have been studied and shown to reach above 150 degrees in the midst of the summer heat. Foam coolers with ice packs sometimes arrive melted and insulin has arrived ineffective and frozen in extreme temperatures. There are limits to how long the meds can sit in these conditions before they start breaking down, losing potency, and even possibly becoming toxic.

From my experience and knowledge in researching this issue, some mail-order pharmacies are claiming meds are safe when stored in these inappropriate conditions without even tracking the temperatures that the packages are exposed to as they are left in hot trucks or mailboxes, or in direct sun for unlimited amounts of time. I haven't heard a manufacturer, the FDA, or USP uphold the practice of storing meds in 150-degree trucks and mail-boxes. The FDA doesn't regulate the temperatures of mail-order pharmacy.

I need your story to share with legislators and those who can bring about change. Please don't delay Please email your story to: loretta@uniteforsafemeds.com

Thank you so much for supporting us and being a hero,
