Stop Forced Eviction of Christian Families in Islamabad Colonies

Stop Forced Eviction of Christian Families in Islamabad Colonies
The Issue
I am a resident of H-9 Christian Colony, part of the community currently facing the devastating threat of forced eviction by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) in Islamabad. I have personally witnessed the heart-wrenching situation unfolding in Rimsha Colony, Akram Gill Colony, and Allama Iqbal Colony, where thousands of Christian families, approximately 25,000 individuals, live in fear of losing their homes, possessions, and sense of security overnight.
These families, including my own, were settled in these areas by the authorities themselves. We built our lives here, established our communities, and contributed to the city's diversity and richness. Yet, now, we are being uprooted without a permanent and humane relocation plan.
Children in our colonies are afraid, as they watch bulldozers inch closer, threatening the only home they've known. Parents are overwhelmed, not knowing how they will protect their families amidst this chaos.
The CDA claims this action is to facilitate development, but development should not come at the cost of humanity. These forced evictions have left us traumatized, insecure, and unsure of our future. According to International Human Rights standards, everyone has the right to adequate housing, and forced evictions should be a last resort, not a first measure.
Instead of eviction and demolition, we ask the CDA and the Government of Pakistan to provide a sustainable and compassionate solution. Engage in meaningful dialogue with our community leaders. Develop a comprehensive relocation plan that offers security and stability. Ensure that there is no interruption in education for our children and access to basic amenities. We want a clear and fair process in alignment with human rights that respects our dignity as humans.
We cannot allow thousands of families, including vulnerable children and the elderly, to become homeless overnight. We urge citizens of Islamabad, human rights organizations, and the international community to support this petition to prevent these cruel evictions.
Please sign this petition and help us appeal to the authorities to stop the forced eviction in Rimsha Colony, Akram Gill Colony, and Allama Iqbal Colony. Let us stand together for justice and the right to live with security and dignity.
