The Legislature has pushed HB543 forward and its next stop is the House floor. You can call your Representative using https://www.myfloridahouse.gov/findyourrepresentative In the Senate, the bill is still in committee as S 150.
Here's a list of the common sense amendments offered by Democratic House Leader Dotie Joseph and Reps Cross, Edmonds and Waldron. They were all rejected. We hope the Senate will consider them!
No storage of firearms in an automobile
No sale of component parts that can be used to make a gun, except to a forearms importer or manufacturer. Component parts must have serial numbers
Private gun sales may only be done on the premises of a licensed dealer
No guns at voting polls
No guns in shoping malls, music festivals, gas stations, lodging or religious institutions
Unlicensed carriers must carry $100,000 liability insurance
Unlicensed carriers must complete a firearm safety class, have mental health certification, shooting training and a criminal background check, and have a safe forearm storage space.
