The Issue

SF2123 and HF2177 is a Ban on Vapor and All Flavored Tobacco Products. This effects Cigar Smokers, Hookah Bars and Shops, Chewing Tobacco, Vape E-liquids, JUUL Pods, Snuffs and Menthol Cigarettes. This Bill also Affects Smokers that are looking to quit and try safer alternatives.

As it reads:

This bill would prohibit a tobacco retailer from selling, offering for sale, or possessing with the intent to sell or offer for sale, a flavored tobacco product, as defined. The bill would authorize an enforcing agency to assess civil penalties for a violation of this prohibition. The bill would state the intent of the Legislature that these provisions not be construed to preempt or prohibit the adoption and implementation of local ordinances related to the prohibition on the sale of flavored tobacco products. The bill would state that its provisions are severable.

(a) “Flavored Product” means any tobacco, tobacco-related device, electronic delivery device, or nicotine or lobelia delivery product that imparts a taste or smell, other than the taste or smell of tobacco, that is distinguishable by an ordinary consumer prior to or during consumption of the product, including but not limited to the taste or smell of chocolate, cocoa, fruit, honey, menthol, mint, vanilla, wintergreen, or any candy, dessert, alcoholic beverage, herb, or spice.

Data from CDC report for state by state smoking rate shows that Minnesota is ranked 47th in the country.

If Flavor Bans were to pass as written it still has no penalty for minors illegally purchasing the products out of state or 18+ from legally buying out of state. This bill directly protects big tobacco companies forcing people back on cancer causing combustible products. Flavors have play a key roll in helping people quit smoking. We should not deny adult smokers access to life saving technology. The FDA has stated that "Electronic cigarettes may have the greatest impact on public health by being twice as effective of any Nicotine Replacement Therapy Product"  We need to invest in enforcement not prohibition,

This bill will put over 100,000 Minnesotans out of Jobs creating a huge Burden on local government and state resources. It may Cause 2500+ businesses to close and  1000+ Business to leave Minnesota.

What We Need:

We asking for your help. If Vaping has helped you quit smoking, or helped a loved one quit smoking and you are a registered voter in Minnesota we ask you to sign the petition. We would love the support we can get, and we need Minnesota to step up. Protect adult choices to adult products. Protect your rights today, sign and share.

If you're a menthol cigarette smoker, if you chew flavored tobacco, if you smoke hookah, if you own a business that sells these products, if you use a JUUL or any other E-cigarette products we need your support.

Don't let Minnesota use children as a shield to strip your rights as an adult. It is a parent’s job to raise their children not the State of Minnesota.
