FIU has never been of any help to many students including myself. I’m here writing and sharing on behalf of other students and myself who have repeatedly undergone the same issues. Not a single advisor at FIU has ever been able to answer a question I have without making me run around school looking for answers like a chicken with its head cut off. FIU lacks competent financial staff. The lack of information and knowledge is ludicrous. For the amount that FIU charges for tuition, students’ problems and concerns should be addressed and prioritized. And I can’t even call the school because they’ll hang up on you after waiting nearly an hour for someone to get on the phone, or transferring you to someone else again and again until they hang up on you, making you have to start all over again. 2022 Fall semester was the first semester i ever had to take off for myself due to a serious emergency. I explained my case to them multiple times only to never be refunded. I ended up in more debt than I would have been, which is still heavily effecting me, my future, and my credit, and they were never able to resolve the issue to this day. Attached I provided a screenshot of an online students fees. Yes, online. Online or not, they will charge you fees like your on campus. Gym fee, health fee, transportation fee, photo ID service fee, etc.. Added up is nearly an extra grand. How does that make sense? Even if i’m on campus, why are we being charged for things we might not even want, need, or use? How are students being charged for distance learning AND for on-campus activities? If you have a car and a gym membership, why would you want to pay for a transportation fee or a gym fee? FIU has also failed to apply financial aid to students charges, causing them to pay out of pocket or a $100 late fee because of a mistake on their behalf.

For an institution I spend thousands on and have NEVER been helped with a single issue and only given more issues, what makes FIU think what they’re doing is worth as much as they charge? Be and make the change now.
