What Putin has been doing in Ukraine is horrible, he has his own agenda, and he is advancing it. And how the US has responded has largely contributed* to 4,600 confirmed deaths in Ukraine with an estimated death count over 27,000; and $54B of American tax payers’ money spent on Ukraine has had direct impact on the U.S. economy here at home. We cannot finance this war any longer, we cannot operate with an open checkbook toward Ukraine. We must withdraw our financial and military support from a non-UN country and re-focus on our domestic issues, such as: inflation, gas prices, healthcare and Medicare costs, to name just a few domestic issues impacted by the poor management of our budget. And we must tell the people we elected what our desires are. They represent us, they should act in our best interests, and it is not in our best interest to support another country that we could not locate on the map until 2022.

They say our inflation was at 8.3% in April, 2022, from a year ago, remaining near 40-year highs. But this must not be accurate when everything we buy has increased in the multiples of thousands of percent, not merely 8 percent. There are several factors contributing to our inflation, and Ukraine is one of many such factors, but this is a large factor that we can and must control and eliminate from the equation. 

Currently, there are 25 other ongoing conflicts in the world. The U.S. is not involved in any one of them, at least not to this extent. Ukraine must become one of these 25 other countries that we do not treat as an open-checkbook. Enough! Supporting Ukraine, and not other terrible regional conflicts only exposes our racial bias. It is not our war to fight, financially or militarily. We cannot be part of another endless war with no clear end.

The fact that the U.S. chooses to support young democracies or tries to bring democracy to other countries has largely been a failed policy. The fact that we hate Putin and do not support his agendas are not sufficient reasons for endless spending of our tax dollars. We must love ourselves more than hate Putin. We must choose us!

Please sign this petition to demand that Congress and our President Biden stop authorizing aid to Ukraine, whether it is in the form of cash or weapons. Enough, stop this spending!

*If the US did not finance this war, the Ukrainian war would have been over in a few days, as most experts expected. But we have prolonged this pain, we have allowed the Ukrainians to fight, to protect their country and die for it. This young, democracy has been a (corrupt) democracy since just three years ago when they elected Zelenskyy as their President in 2019.  Ukrainian and Russian people share the same culture, same language (most Ukrainians do not speak Ukrainian! Russian is their primary language), they are/were the same people living under the thumb of Putin, sharing last places on the corruption perceptions index among European countries. If Russia took over within 3 days and installed a puppet government, as it always maintained until 2019, Ukrainians would experience a momentary feeling of sadness or defeat but life would go on, resentment would dissipate, and they’d live like they always have, under the thumb of Russia. Importantly, thousands of people and counting would have been alive and millions of others not displaced. Instead, we have two culturally-identical people hating each other and dying, all thanks to our money and our support.
