Help Us Spread the Word and Support Our Campaign
"Let’s Turn Our Hospitals to be Breastfeeding Friendly"
Dear Friends,
We need your help! To make this campaign a huge success !!
We want to reach as many maternity hospitals as possible to support this vital cause to ensure women are successful in breastfeeding their babies while they come for giving birth (both vaginal or C-section)
You may be aware that infant formula use is growing especially in C-section births. And our aim is to minimise or eliminate the unnecessary use of commercial infant formula because of negative impact on health.
This campaign offers “free tools” to the maternity hospitals, which helps in implementing the UNICEF-WHO’s Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding/Government of India’s MAA Programme: a proven blueprint to promote breastfeeding in the health facilities.
What exactly these hospitals have to do?
Following few steps are necessary and the BPNI tools help in achieving these:
- Adopt a hospital policy.
- Ensure data collection and review for early breastfeeding rates within
- Prepare women during pregnancy
- Assist women at the time of birth to begin breastfeeding within an hour and skin to skin contact.
- Train the staff with necessary skills and or appoint lactation support staff.
- Implement a law of India to ban promotion of baby foods(IMS Act)
How You Can Help?
