Dear Neighbor,
Tomorrow night, the Chatham County Planning Board meets to make its critical recommendation vote on the 630-home Fearrington Preserve rezoning.
We knew the developer would push hard at the eleventh hour. But we didn't expect them to dismiss your voice entirely.
In their formal submittal to the Planning Board ahead of tomorrow's vote, the developer’s team attacked our petition of over 1,523 community members. In black-and-white print submitted directly to county leaders, they claimed:
- That claims of Chatham residents opposing this project are "empirically false." (Pg 9)
- That the true number of local residents opposed to the project is "unknown"—putting the word "signers" in scare quotes. (Pg 9)
- That our community opposition is "dramatically diluted" by what they dismiss as an "ever-so-easy button to push." (Pg 9)
- That your concerns "could be by non-Chatham residents near and far," urging our County leaders to "Ask for proof." (Pg 9)
- To make matters worse, while questioning whether you live in Chatham County, the developer repeatedly claimed their project sits in Williams Township (Pgs 8 and 9).
The property is in Baldwin Township.
An out-of-state developer doesn't even know which Chatham County township their own project is located in—yet they had the audacity to tell our County leaders that the families living along Andrews Store, Parker Herndon, and Morris Roads don't count.
Tomorrow Night: Let’s Show Them Who We Are
The Planning Board cannot hear new public comments from the podium tomorrow, but they can see the room.
When every seat in the Ag Center is filled with frontline residents, parents, and neighbors wearing coalition green, no developer can pretend this community is an illusion.

When developers run out of arguments on traffic gridlock, unmitigated floodplains, and double density, they resort to questioning the credibility of the community.
Let's make sure that when the Planning Board looks up from their desks tomorrow evening, they see hundreds of real Chatham County taxpayers looking right back at them.
