The issue

🛑 Stop Giving Away Our Gas – Make Multinationals Pay Fairly

Australia is one of the world’s largest gas exporters — but over half of our gas is exported without paying a single cent in royalties.

That's right... companies like Chevron and Shell are making billions by selling our gas overseas, while ordinary Australians get stuck with higher energy bills, no return on our resources, and the risk of shortages at home.

We’re giving it away.

In the past 4 years, $149 billion worth of gas was exported royalty-free.

We’ve collected almost nothing in return, just $2.6 billion in tax from $90+ billion in export revenue.

Countries like Qatar, Canada, and Norway earn 10x more per citizen from their gas exports.

And while our gas powers Japan and China, some Aussies can’t afford to heat their homes.

Meanwhile, the government keeps defending a broken system full of loopholes and handouts. This is a betrayal of everyday Australians — and a missed opportunity to fund schools, hospitals, renewables, and a better future for all of us.

✅ We’re calling on the Australian Government to:

1. Close gas tax loopholes (fix the broken PRRT system)

2. Charge fair royalties on all gas exports

3. Reserve 15% of gas for Australians first (like WA does)

4. Create a national wealth fund — so future generations benefit

This isn’t a left vs right issue. It’s about common sense.

If we let foreign gas giants strip our land and export our wealth for free — while we get nothing — we’ll look back and wonder why we didn’t act sooner.
