Why this petition matters

Started by Donna Charway

I'm a volunteer with IAPWA (International Aid Protection Welfare for Animals) and I'm trying to raise awareness of their latest campaign Claws Out. This aims to tackle the exploitation of lions in South Africa. Unfortunately, this horrific industry is something that many people become involved with through no fault of their own as they simply do not know it exists. Every year thousands of people visit South Africa and find themselves faced with the opportunity to cuddle a cute lion cub. The REAL truth behind the industry is not widely known – these lion cubs are actually being regularly bred for profit and when they’re too big to be cuddled for Instagram photos, they’re sold into trophy hunting and are subsequently killed for sport or pleasure.

You may be aware of Netflix's recent 'Tiger King' documentary has brought this industry to the forefront of the media at the moment, and we hope that with our Claws Out Pledge, we can help to change the industry for good.

The Claws Out pledge asks people to promise to never cuddle a lion cub, never walk with lions and never visit a facility that offers these experiences. Every single person who signs the pledge will help to advance their ongoing campaign against the travel agents that are still selling these trips and lying to their customers.

As well as signing this petition, can I please also ask you to share IAPWA's posts on  www.iapwa.org/ www.twitter.com/IAPWA www.facebook.com/IAPWA/

Thank you for reading and I truly hope you can take a few minutes to support us and help save the King of the Jungle.
