The Issue

In the heart of La Crosse, my son and I have cherished moments playing baseball on the green space next to Trane Park, right across the street from our home. This space is more than just a patch of grass; it's where families and friends gather to picnic, play, and create lifelong memories. It's a vital part of our community and a sanctuary for all of us who call this neighborhood home.

However, the City of La Crosse has decided to pave over this precious green oasis to expand pickleball courts without ever consulting the residents who will be most affected by this decision. Construction equipment has already started to appear, signaling an imminent change that threatens not only our play space but also our quality of life.

These new courts would bring about significant increases in traffic and parking congestion on our already busy streets, leading to safety concerns for children and residents. Furthermore, the constant noise from the courts would disrupt the sensory-friendly environment that the Trane Playground aims to provide, affecting those who rely on its peaceful atmosphere.

Moreover, this decision seems to have been made without transparency or regard for public input. We, the residents of this community, deserve to have our voices heard and considered in decisions that directly impact us. There are alternative solutions that can be explored, such as enhancing existing sports facilities or finding less disruptive locations for new developments.

By signing this petition, you join us in urging the City of La Crosse to halt the current construction plans and reconsider the impact on our community. We need to protect our neighborhood's green spaces and ensure that urban development aligns with the best interests of all residents.

Let us stand together to preserve the heart and spirit of our neighborhood. Sign and share this petition to make our collective voice resonate far and wide.
