A series of protests and civil unrest agains the government of Iran began in Tehran on 16 September 2022, following the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini. The security forces used brutal force to quash the uprising. On the 24th of November, the UN Human Rights Council held a special meeting to discuss Iran and formally begin an investigation into the protests. Iran's Revolutionary Court in Tehran carried out its first execution on December 8, 2022. Mohsen Shekari, was sentenced to death by hanging. Iran carried out another public hanging of a protester in Mashhad on 12 December, Majidreza Rahnavard.

The petition ask on the embassies present in Iran for strong diplomatic pressure to stop the government's executions. Sentences and convictions that come after unfair trials and torture.
