22-year-old Mohammad Mehdi Karami was sentenced to mohārebe by the first branch of the Revolutionary Court of Albar province headed by Judge Musa Asif Al-Hosni on the charge of "corruption on earth through crimes against internal security" and sentenced to death.

Masha Allah Karami, the father of Mohammad Mehdi Karami, in an interview with Etemad newspaper, said: "He himself called us on Wednesday and said that they have given us the rulings; My sentence is death. My son was crying and saying don't tell mom anything."

Masha'Allah Karami added that the person in charge of his son's case also told him that the family's opposition to the death sentence means opposition to the "order of God and the Prophet".

As narrated by Mohammad Mehdi Karami's father, his son does not accept his accusations and this sentence was issued only on the basis of his "confession", confessions that were made under physical and mental pressure.

According to Mr. Karami, "when he was detained, he was beaten so that he was unconscious, and the government forces thought that he was dead and threw his "body" around the Nazarabad court, but when he left there, they realized that he was still alive."

ماشاءالله كرمی، پدر محمدمهدی کرمی در گفت‌و‌گو با روزنامه اعتماد گفته است: «خودش چهارشنبه... به ما زنگ زد و گفت بابا حكم‌ها را به ما داده‌اند؛ حكم من اعدام است. پسرم گريه می‌كرد و می‌گفت به مامان چيزی نگو.»

ماشاءالله كرمی اضافه کرده که مسئول پرونده فرزندش نیز به وی گفته مخالفت خانواده با حکم اعدام به معنای مخالفت با «حکم خدا و پیغمبر» است.

آن‌ طور که پدر محمدمهدی کرمی روایت کرده، پسرش اتهامات خود را قبول ندارد و تنها بر اساس «اعتراف» این حکم برای وی صادر شده است، اعترافاتی که تحت فشارهای جسمی و روحی صورت گرفته است.

به گفته آقای کرمی، «هنگام بازداشت او را طوری کتک زده‌اند که بیهوش شده بود و نیروهای حکومتی فکر کردند که او مُرده و «جنازه‌اش» را اطراف دادگاه نظرآباد انداختند، اما موقع ترک آن‌جا متوجه شدند که هنوز زنده است».
