We, the undersigned Concerned Citizens of Hood County and Somervell County, Texas, are urgently requesting that all public officials with oversight on matters in Hood County, both elected and appointed, including but not limited to Justices of Peace, Commissioners, Judges, and State Representatives, Attorney General, and Governor, offer immediate emergency relief to individuals impacted by the Wolf Hollow Bitcoin facility, currently owned by Marathon Digital Holdings. This Bitcoin operation has created a humanitarian crisis in and around the area of Wolf Hollow, located in Precinct 2, in Hood County, Texas. Residents have reported and documented ongoing noise and sound frequency complaints that far exceed Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards, resulting in serious health concerns including but not limited to widespread hearing loss, bleeding from the ears, migraines, life-threatening cardiac conditions, strokes, chronic tinnitus, vertigo, and the like. In addition, residents have reported wildlife leaving the area due to hazardous sound frequencies. Residents also report and have documented ongoing interruptions to all aspects of daily life, including sleep, recreational activities, education, worship in their local churches, among others.

We respectfully request the following:

1.      Elected officials take necessary emergency measures to force Marathon Digital Holdings to immediately reduce all sound decibel levels to EPA standards design “…to protect public health and welfare against hearing loss, annoyance and activity interference...”.

2.     Due to this Bitcoin facility repeated violating Texas Penal Code 42.01, Disorderly Conduct, in relation to unreasonable noise complaints, demand an expeditated, fair and unbiased independent forensic investigation into the full extent the Bitcoin facility, owned and operated by Marathon Digital Holdings, produces unsafe sound levels and frequencies 24 hours a day, every day, without break.

3.     An environmental investigation into the full extent that the noise and sound frequencies of the Bitcoin facility have devastated wildlife in and around the facility.

4.     That the community of Wolf Hollow and surrounding areas be immediately protected from the damage of the noise and unsafe sound frequencies produced by the Bitcoin facility.

5.     Further, the undersigned demand that Marathon Digital Holdings and Hood County, Texas make all records of Wolf Hollow’s Bitcoin facility accessible to the public for inspection.
