When the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors passed the Airport Impact Overlay District in January, they directed county staff to start a dialogue with the FAA about flight path solutions off Runway 30. On April 19th, Loudoun County staff reported to the Board of Supervisors' Transportation and Land Use Committee (TLUC) that the RFPs sent to three aviation consultants are due by Friday, April 28. Staff expects to select a consultant and fund that proposal fairly soon afterward. This work is expected to last at least one year, at minimum.
Today, the Loudoun Times-Mirror published a lengthy update on the AIOD, which is a solid update on the issue and worth your time to read. The image on this post is from that article. The caption reads that "boundaries shown here are a revised version of the overlay district adopted by the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors in January 2023. The adopted boundaries intentionally exclude existing and planned residential subdivisions, like Birchwood at Brambleton and the Arcola Center Residences at Main Street, from the Ldn 65+ contour."
Going forward, county staff plan to update the Supervisors during the monthly TLUC meetings.
