Mark your calendars for important meetings this month and next regarding Loudoun County's Airport Impact Overlay District (AIOD) update. The Planning Commission voted last month to send the AIOD Update ordinance to the Board of Supervisors, saying the AIOD is primarily to protect future residents and that the airport is the county's highest priority.
We at the Loudoun Aircraft Noise Mitigation Committee (LANMC) are fully supportive of Dulles and its flourishing. But we maintain that CURRENT residents should be the priority of Loudoun County leadership. And our questions about the impact of the AIOD on existing residents are so far unaddressed.
So on Monday, October 17th at 6 pm at Independence High School, the Brambleton HOA board is hosting a meeting with county and airport officials to provide an update on the AIOD. LANMC will also be there to give comments.
On Wednesday, November 9th, also at 6 pm at 1 Harrison St. SE in Leesburg, the Board of Supervisors will have a hearing as the county staff presents the AIOD Update as approved by the Planning Commission. This meeting is where your presence is critical. The Board of Supervisors needs to experience the questions and concerns of county residents--both visually as a crowd at this meeting and at the microphone as we give our feedback.
Why is this important? See the inelegantly photographed map here that the airport authority presented to the Planning Commission. What we experience is the red map. What the airport is planning for in a full buildout is the green map.
Finally, if you would like detailed information about the AIOD Update, the airport's noise contour map and why the FAA doesn't accept it, the airport's demand capacity that has never been reached in 30 years in the original contours, and much more zoning and aviation information, please email info@planenoise.org.
We look forward to seeing you at these meetings! And please keep sharing the petition with your neighbors and Loudoun friends. Thanks.
