Petition updateStop Evri from Unfairly Cutting Couriers' Rates and removing work without notice

🚨 PETITION UPDATE — I AM NOT GOING AWAY, AND NEITHER IS THIS EVIDENCE 🚨

Richard CallGrimsby, ENG, United Kingdom
Oct 7, 2026

After nearly nine years working as a Hermes/Evri courier, I have reached the point where I am absolutely determined that what happened to me — and what other couriers are telling me happened to them — is put under proper scrutiny.

For years I felt like problems were dealt with individually, brushed aside, corrected only after chasing, or simply allowed to disappear into the system.

Not anymore.

What started as me standing up over the treatment of my own rounds has now grown into something much bigger. I have spent weeks pulling together years of emails, invoices, photographs, medical records, payment evidence, management correspondence and witness evidence.

And this case IS NOT GOING AWAY.

Right now, several things are happening at the same time.

ACAS Early Conciliation is underway. I have given ACAS details of the dispute and authorised them to approach Evri. The issues raised include my employment/worker status, the removal of my established work, payment and banding problems, my health circumstances and the reality of how I worked for Hermes/Evri for approximately nine years.

I have formally appealed the removal of my main round, 900305. I did NOT simply decide to walk away from nine years of work. I expressly told Evri:

I DID NOT RELINQUISH MY ROUND.

This followed a dispute after additional LN7 territory was added to my work. I was already travelling huge distances, and I challenged being expected to absorb substantial additional mileage and time.

My main round represented around 90% of my Evri income.

Then there is my health.

I have spent years doing physically demanding Light & Large work while dealing with an abdominal hernia which requires treatment. Evri had been told about my health problems before my main round was removed.

And people need to understand the sort of parcels I have evidence of being given.

I have retained photographs showing parcels recorded at 41kg, 45kg and 47kg, including parcels carrying mechanical-lift warnings.

Think about that.

I was an individual courier.

This isn’t something I’m relying on memory to prove. The photographs exist.

I also have NHS evidence confirming that I suffered a broken foot in 2024, along with evidence showing that I paid people to help me keep my work going while I was recovering and witness evidence concerning what they personally saw and heard.

Then there are the payment problems.

My records go back years and include instances where Hermes/Evri itself identified parcels that had not triggered for payment, manual corrections, banding disputes, wasted-journey issues and other discrepancies.

I’m not throwing random figures around. We are separating payments that were eventually corrected from genuinely disputed amounts because I want this evidence capable of standing up to scrutiny.

And there is another major question that I want properly examined:

Was I really operating as independently as the label “self-employed” suggests?

For years I serviced established rounds. There were manifests, managers, centrally determined rates and operational requirements. I even paid for my own private unit that was used in connection with the Evri operation.

That is why my worker/employment status is now one of the issues being examined.

My union GMB is involved and has received substantial evidence.

My MP Melanie Onn’s office is involved.

And today, 7 October 2026, her caseworker confirmed that after the further points we raised, she has gone back to Evri and requested another response.

So Evri now has another opportunity to answer these questions in writing.

Evri has also confirmed receipt of my comprehensive data request, seeking records covering matters including my contracts/status, rounds, payments, management communications, complaints and other information held about my years working with the company. I have also requested preservation of relevant records because of potential legal proceedings.

And something else has happened that has made me even more determined to continue.

OTHER COURIERS HAVE STARTED COMING FORWARD

Since speaking publicly, I have received evidence and accounts from other couriers concerning their own experiences.

Messages.

Screenshots.

Payment issues.

Statements.

Documents.

Photographs.

Some people are frightened about being identified while they are still working, and I completely understand that. Evidence supplied to me can be kept separate from my personal claim, and requests for anonymity will be respected.

But every genuine piece of evidence helps build a clearer picture.

📧 HAVE YOU WORKED FOR HERMES OR EVRI? PLEASE KEEP SENDING ME EVIDENCE

If you have experienced problems — recently or years ago — please contact me:

📧 richcall1985@gmail.com

If you have emails, screenshots, invoices, photographs, messages with managers, payment discrepancies, evidence involving parcel weights, round changes, threats of losing work, unpaid work, banding problems, wasted journeys, health/safety concerns or anything else you believe should be looked at, please send it.

Even if you think what you have is insignificant, send it anyway. Something that looks unimportant on its own can become extremely important when compared with evidence from other people.

Please tell me if you want your identity kept confidential.

I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF PEOPLE FEELING THEY HAVE NO VOICE

I am angry.

I’m angry that after giving so many years of my life to this work, I have ended up having to assemble an enormous evidence archive simply to get serious questions answered.

I’m angry about the physical toll.

I’m angry about having to repeatedly chase money.

I’m angry about the uncertainty couriers can face over work they rely upon to support their families.

And I’m angry that so many other people have contacted me with stories that make them feel they were simply expected to accept whatever happened.

But anger alone proves nothing.

Evidence does.

That is why I am documenting this properly rather than making claims I cannot substantiate. Not every allegation has been legally determined, and I will continue distinguishing between what I can prove, what witnesses say they experienced and what still needs investigating.

ACAS is now involved.

GMB is involved.

My MP is involved and has gone back to Evri.

My formal appeal is underway.

My data request is underway.

And the evidence archive continues to grow.

I have no intention of quietly disappearing because this has become difficult or uncomfortable.

THIS CASE IS NOT GOING AWAY.

If you’ve supported this petition from the beginning, please share this update again.

If you worked for Hermes/Evri and have evidence, email me: richcall1985@gmail.com

And to everyone who has signed, shared, messaged me, supplied evidence or stood behind me:

THANK YOU.

We’re nowhere near finished.
