🚨 EVRI TOOK MY LIVELIHOOD, I WORKED THROUGH A BROKEN FOOT AND A HERNIA, AND NOW I HAVE BLOOD CLOTS

MORE THAN TWO MONTHS AFTER REMOVING MY WORK, EVRI MANAGEMENT SUDDENLY WANTS A RESOLUTION. WHERE WAS THEIR CONCERN WHEN MY FAMILY NEEDED IT?

To everyone supporting my petition, Stop Evri Destroying Lives, I want to share another heartbreaking update.

After years of working for Hermes/Evri, after repeatedly raising concerns about my health and working conditions, and after losing the livelihood that supported my children, I am now facing another frightening health crisis.

I have been diagnosed with pulmonary emboli — blood clots in my lungs.

I am now taking blood-thinning medication and require further medical treatment and monitoring.

I was already suffering from an abdominal hernia, which I believe developed through years of handling excessively heavy parcels while working as a courier. I have been awaiting surgery for that condition.

Now I face additional uncertainty about my health and when that surgery can safely take place.

And this is not the first time I have struggled with serious injuries while working for Evri.

💔 TWO YEARS AGO I BROKE MY FOOT — AND I BELIEVE I WAS DENIED THE CHANCE TO RECOVER PROPERLY

In 2024, I fractured my foot while handling a parcel.

It was a painful injury that needed time to heal.

But instead of feeling supported while injured, I felt under pressure to continue working because I feared that taking time off would mean losing my rounds and my income.

I recall being warned that my work could be given to somebody else if I could not continue carrying out the deliveries.

That was the position I felt I was repeatedly placed in throughout my time with Evri.

WORK THROUGH THE PAIN OR RISK LOSING YOUR LIVELIHOOD.

I continued trying to protect my work and provide for my family when I should have been concentrating on recovering.

Even now, two years later, I still experience problems with that foot.

I believe the pressure I felt to keep working prevented me from giving the injury the rest and recovery time it needed. The medical reasons for my ongoing symptoms would need to be assessed by a clinician.

What kind of working environment leaves an injured courier frightened that taking time to recover could cost them their livelihood?

And what kind of message does that send to other couriers who are suffering with injuries but cannot afford to lose their work?

AND NOW, AFTER ALL THIS TIME, EVRI WANTS TO RESOLVE THINGS?

More than two months after my main round was removed, and with formal Employment Tribunal proceedings now underway, I have received an email from senior Evri management offering a meeting to discuss my complaints and work towards a resolution.

WHERE WAS THIS OFFER BEFORE MY LIVELIHOOD WAS TAKEN AWAY?

Where was the concern when I was working with a fractured foot?

Where was the understanding when I was struggling with my abdominal hernia?

Where was the willingness to resolve things when I raised concerns about heavy parcels, excessive workloads and threats to my income?

WHY IS IT ONLY NOW, AFTER LEGAL PROCEEDINGS HAVE STARTED, THAT SENIOR MANAGEMENT IS OFFERING TO DISCUSS A RESOLUTION?

I cannot know what prompted this offer. But from my perspective, the timing is astonishing.

You cannot leave somebody dealing with the loss of their livelihood for months and expect one meeting to erase what has happened.

THIS IS ABOUT YEARS OF TREATMENT, NOT ONE DISAGREEMENT

For years, I experienced disputed payments, reduced rates, heavy workloads and problems obtaining satisfactory responses from management.

I was left financially responsible for my privately rented delivery unit after Evri changed where my parcels were being sent.

I regularly encountered excessively heavy parcels, including items marked TEAM LIFT and MECHANICAL LIFT REQUIRED. I have retained photographs and other evidence.

I suffered injuries and continued working because I believed my livelihood was at risk if I could not carry out the deliveries.

Then, when I challenged additional delivery territory that I believed was unreasonable while already struggling with my health, I was warned that my existing work could be transferred.

My main round was subsequently removed without notice.

After years of service, I lost the work that supported my family.

I have retained recorded management conversations that I believe demonstrate the pressure placed on me.

THIS PETITION HAS SHOWN ME THAT OTHER COURIERS HAVE CONCERNS TOO

Since starting Stop Evri Destroying Lives, I have received an enormous response from people sharing their experiences of working for or dealing with Evri.

Couriers have contacted me about payment disputes, threats concerning their rounds, excessive workloads and the treatment they experienced while injured or unwell.

Some have supplied evidence. Others have asked to remain anonymous because they fear the consequences of speaking out.

Although these accounts have not all been independently verified, I believe they raise serious questions about whether the problems I experienced are part of a wider pattern.

NO COURIER SHOULD FEEL FORCED TO CHOOSE BETWEEN THEIR HEALTH AND THEIR LIVELIHOOD.

MY FAMILY IS LIVING WITH THE CONSEQUENCES

I have three children who depend on me.

They have watched me go from working long days to losing my income, struggling with longstanding injuries and now facing a serious new medical diagnosis.

I cannot say that Evri caused the blood clots in my lungs, because their medical cause has not been established.

But I can say that the stress, financial uncertainty and distress surrounding everything that has happened have had a profound impact on my wellbeing and family life.

I wanted to work. I wanted to support my children. I wanted to recover from my injuries without fearing that everything I had worked for would be taken away.

That should never have been too much to ask.

LEGAL PROCEEDINGS ARE NOW UNDERWAY

I have commenced Employment Tribunal proceedings against Evri Limited.

I have gathered correspondence, payment records, photographs, recorded management conversations and witness accounts.

I want the decisions affecting my livelihood and the treatment I experienced examined independently.

I have informed senior Evri management, my union contact and my Member of Parliament of my concerns.

I have declined the offer of an informal meeting at this stage and requested that further communication take place in writing.

For years, I wanted Evri to listen. Now I want the evidence examined and proper accountability.

TO EVRI MANAGEMENT

You had opportunities to address my concerns long before legal proceedings began.

You had opportunities to listen when I was injured.

You had opportunities to consider the consequences of removing my work.

And you had opportunities to resolve this dispute before my family was left facing the consequences.

NOW, MORE THAN TWO MONTHS AFTER REMOVING MY LIVELIHOOD, YOU WANT TO DISCUSS A RESOLUTION.

I believe that offer has come far too late to restore my trust.

A meeting cannot undo the financial losses, the fear, the pressure or the impact this situation has had on my children.

I intend to pursue accountability through the proper legal process.

TO EVERYONE SUPPORTING THIS PETITION ❤️

Thank you for standing by me and for sharing your own experiences.

I am currently dealing with serious health problems, and my recovery and my children must come first.

But I still believe this campaign matters.

Nobody should feel they have to deliver parcels with a broken foot to protect their income.

Nobody should feel that raising concerns about their health could cost them their livelihood.

And nobody should have to lose their work before senior management decides it is time to listen.

Please continue signing and sharing Stop Evri Destroying Lives.

EVRI WANTS TO TALK NOW. I NEEDED THEM TO LISTEN WHEN IT COULD HAVE SAVED MY LIVELIHOOD.
