The Issue
I have been a courier for Evri for over 8 years, diligently serving the light and large parcels around the North East Lincolnshire areas. On Monday, the 19th of May, I found myself waiting at my delivery unit, which I personally finance, expecting the usual parcel delivery as it has been for the past 6 years. To my shock and dismay, after four exhausting hours of waiting, I was informed that my work had been reassigned to a cheaper alternative without prior notice. This is utterly devastating, especially when I have children to support and bills to pay. The actions of Evri are not only unprofessional but also have a significant impact on the mental health and livelihoods of their couriers.
Evri's strategy of cutting costs at the expense of hardworking couriers like myself is downright unacceptable. Assumptions are made that such tactics benefit the company, but in reality, they trample on the rights and dignity of the workforce. The abrupt removal of work without notice is not only morally wrong, it could potentially violate fair labor practices.
