Stop Euthanizing Dogs at Marshall County, AL Animal Shelter

The Issue

Please read and sign the following petition.

Time is critical, on March 8, 2023, the Marshall County Commissioners will vote to reduce the dog population because of lack of space inside the shelter.  Their solution is to euthanize dogs.  This problem has been known to the Commissioners for more than two years.  Their decision has been to pay boarding fees of $10 per day per dog to a boarding service. The amount of your tax money spent could have built outside covered shelter kennels as a permanent solution.  But the money has been paid to outside boarding services.

For years, the Commission Chairman has publicly and proudly promoted the shelter as a no-kill county shelter.  But this is no longer true.  With your voice, you can let the Chairman know the shelter should not euthanize dogs that are healthy and adoptable.  Recently hired Kennel Technicians at the shelter are working hard to get dogs adopted and can be effective if they are given more time.

These are your tax dollars and you should have a say in how the money is spent.

Make a difference!  Let your County Commissioner know their solution to shelter overcrowding is not to euthanize healthy adoptable dogs. You can also call or email them before March 8th.
