SHELTER AT CAPACITY! URGENT HELP NEEDED! NO SPACE FOR NEW DOGS!

Would you be willing to adopt or foster a dog starting this week?

Shelter’s in Riverside County & beyond are urging their communities to step up to foster or adopt prior to the 4th of July holiday.

Shelter staff, rescues + the networking community are working against time, already borrowed time + Fourth of July holiday is approaching fast.

It’s no surprise Riverside Shelter is currently in a crisis! They are overflowing with so many healthy, adoptable dogs and more than 100 of those are at risk of being euthanized at any time.

If you find a dog- PLEASE DO NOT SURRENDER TO THE SHELTER. We’re encouraging Good Samaritan’s to keep the animal safe while owners are searched for. If you have found an animal or lost your own pet please visit https://lost.petcolove.org/

Help your community and neighbors by reuniting lost pets. Don’t drive the animal far away to another animal shelter that’s “no kill” - there is no such thing! Traveling far with an animal makes it harder to reunite with their owner. If you are forced to travel back home, which is far from where the dog was found, please be diligent in looking for your found pets family.

If you already have a furry friend at home here are some tips to keep them safe this holiday weekend:

* Keep your pets safely indoors w/ doors and windows locked.
* Turn on music or the TV to drown out fireworks.
* Keep them in a space they feel safe.
* Make sure they have ID tags with your name and number (Riverside offers ID tags FREE of charge!)
* Microchip your pet. If already microchipped, make sure contact info is current!

If you are unable to foster, adopt or rescue - spreading awareness is also huge help! You never know who you might reach.

Please like, comment and share this post—we desperately need the communities help!
