Article Share: Unintended Consequences of Humanoid Service Robots

(The following was written without the use of ChatGPT, etc.)
Hello-
Anchoring the free-wheeling humanoid robots conversation is a central concern. Without an anchor - something to give context to the many things being discussed - we'll certainly enjoy none of the benefits of these tools - while also suffering each and every of their drawback.
I recently found a research paper tiled, 'Unintended Consequences of Humanoid Service Robots' - and it uses the scientific method to provide some rational basis for a conversation. It maps out the various unintended consequences of a humanoid robot performing a service oriented role in a small, very limited environment (the robot serves as an aid in an Australian library).
While the scope of the experiment is limited - and perhaps doesn't provide an opportunity for plausible worst case scenarios to play out - it does illuminate a number of fascinating dynamics between the interplay of humans and robots in complex, real-world environments. If you have a moment to spare to read it, here is the link (LINK TO ARTICLE).
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Michael-
