The Humanoid Robot and the Free Market

The following was written without ChatGPT, etc.
Hello:
This petition hopes to discourage private businesses from producing a particular product (humanoid robots). Therefore, this petition is taking a stand against certain ‘free market’ forces. Whether I like it or not, this is a Biblical scale stand off - and I don’t take it lightly. Also, and generally speaking, I’m a proponent of a free market (or, more accurately, I think ‘free market theory’ is best thought of as a science that describes human behavior, more than it is an idea that humans have put forward to govern themselves).
However, there do seem to be real, very bad phenomena in markets that can destabilize society - such as the natural inclination for businesses to become intertwined with government and, from there, form monopolies that undermine the whole system's ability to regenerate itself.
Ultimately, I don’t think it’s impossible for “market forces” to produce a thing that people are not prepared to put to use in a sane manner - particularly when social tensions are high and trust is low. To the point, I think the humanoid robot is an obvious example of this.
The real goal now should be to establish a more genuine basis for trust in our society - and to leave these not obviously necessary technological experiments for a later day.
Thank you for taking a moment.
Sincerely,
Michael Christensen-
