Stop Edinburgh Council's Decision to Close Eight Community Leisure Centres

The Issue

These facilities are not just buildings, but hubs of activity where children learn teamwork, adults maintain their health, and everyone can engage in sports and physical activities. The facilities at Jack Kane Sports Centre, Meggetland Sports Complex, Saughton Sports Complex, Portobello Swim Centre, Kirkliston Leisure Centre, Wester Hailes High School's leisure facilities, Gracemount Leisure Centre and Glenogle Swim Centre in Stockbridge are all under threat.

These Leisure centres provide opportunities and facilities to our future athletes across many different sports such as swimming, football and rugby.Edinburgh Council has decided to close these centres without fully considering the impact on local communities. These closures will affect thousands of people who rely on them for their physical wellbeing and impact the future of athletes who seek to professional in their chosen sport.
